54-Year-Old Cathedral City Man Suspected Of Phony Bomb Threats: Cops

PALM SPRINGS, CA — A 54-year-old man suspected of making a phony bomb threat in Palm Springs was free on bail Monday.
Chad Everett Miller of Cathedral City was arrested Sunday and booked at Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of a false bomb threat. He was released Monday on $5,000 bail.
According to the Palm Springs Police Department, officers responded to a call shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday in the 150 block of South Palm Canyon Drive regarding a possible bomb threat. Police said a man approached a restaurant employee and claimed there was a bomb was inside a vehicle parked in front of the eatery.

Officers secured the area and requested help from the Riverside County sheriff's explosive ordnance disposal team.
The police department's explosives K-9 team assisted in clearing the vehicle. No explosives or hazardous devices were found inside the vehicle, police said.
