62-Year-Old Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle Near I-10 In Indio

INDIO, CA — An investigation was underway Monday into the death of a 62-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle near Interstate 10 in Indio.
John Keogh was fatally struck around noon Saturday on the westbound freeway on-ramp at Monroe Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A GMC Sierra being driven northbound on Monroe Street at an unspecified rate of speed made a left turn onto the ramp and struck Keogh, who was crossing the on-ramp.

The agency said the front left portion of the GMC struck Keogh, which resulted in multiple traumatic injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, whose name was not released, remained at the scene. Neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash, according to the CHP.
