75-Year-Old Woman Carjacked In La Quinta

Four teens were arrested in the incident.

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — A 75-year-old woman in La Quinta was the victim of an armed carjacking early Tuesday morning, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported.

At about 12:37 a.m., deputies from the Thermal Sheriff's Station were called to the 47700 block of Dune Palms Road about the alleged violence. Two Hispanic males approached the woman, one armed with a semi-automatic firearm, and demanded her black Chevrolet Camaro and purse, according to the sheriff's department.

The investigation revealed that the two males fled in the Camaro onto westbound Highway 111, with a white Lincoln sedan following them, the sheriff's department reported.

The deputies tried to pull over the Camaro and the Lincoln in the 44600 block of Village Court but the Camaro again fled westbound on Highway 111 while the Lincoln rammed a sheriff’s patrol unit, according to the department.

The suspects were identified as David Reyes, 18, of Palm Desert, and Daryl Urbano, 18, of Coachella.

Meanwhile, the victim’s Camaro was found abandoned in the 69100 block of Dinah Shore Drive in Cathedral City.

Both boys were connected to the earlier carjacking in La Quinta and were believed to be the two who abandoned the Camaro, according to the sheriff's department. The car was returned to the victim, who was uninjured, the department reported.
