INDIO, CA — Indio police reported a 911 outage Monday and told residents to call a backup number for emergency services.

The department said the issue began around 6 a.m. Monday.

Anyone needing emergency assistance was urged to call 760-391-4051 until the problem is resolved.

Frontier, who manages the 911 lines, is "actively working on the issue," Indio police told reporters.
