ACT for MS to Host Annual ‘A Stroll Down Christmas Tree Lane

Proceeds from the tickets are to benefit local patients with MS.

ACT for MS has captured the spirit of the season in their festive, celebrity-infused Christmas Tree Auction and entertainment filled evening. The 16th Annual ‘A Stroll Down Christmas Tree Lane” will be held Thursday, December 1, at Hard Rock Hotel in Palm Springs beginning at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $75, and benefit local patients with MS.

Each year, ACT for Multiple Sclerosis, a Coachella Valley non-profit assisting local residents living with Multiple Sclerosis live stronger longer through various strength building programs, kicks-off the season by hosting a celebrity themed Christmas Tree Auction and evening of entertainment. A Stroll Down Christmas Tree Lane continuously proves to be one of the most delightful and spirit-lifting winter events in the Palm Springs area. Each year, celebrity sponsored decorated trees are put on the auction block to raise monies to provide assistance for Coachella Valley residents living with multiple sclerosis.

The organization, founded by Ms. Gloria Greer – Palm Springs local journalist and TV personality, provides programs and services through their fundraising efforts and grants to local residents at no-cost. This desert charity is a true gem-inspired, co-founded and supported by her well-known local friends Ms. Peggy Cravens and Ms. Jackie Lee Houston after Gloria’s daughter Norma was diagnosed with MS.

“ACT for MS is about making sure that our clients live stronger longer,” said ACT for MS president Margot Nelligan. “These events help raise the funds necessary to provide for free programs benefiting local clients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.”

A Stroll down Christmas Tree Lane is inspired by the works of Gloria’s friend and supporter, Mr. Merv Griffen who helped launch the event in 2000. As guests enter the venue they are treated to a fun silent auction display of whimsically themed boutique trees. Once inside the ballroom, folks stroll along a winter wonderland setting of dazzling decorated trees, each one creatively costumed in different themes, and each one more spectacular than the other.

Bill Marx and his band provide the right amount of Jazzy Christmas music each year and this season will be joined by local vocalist Keesha D, Santa Claus and the Dicken’s Carolers. The event is toped-off by local show producer Mr. Richard DeSantis who provides the split-second magic to bring this evening to life!

Designer and Co-Chair Linda Williamson and her team of designers capture the spirit of the season in each celebrity themed decoration and Tree. Celebrities with trees in the lineup have included Broadway star Carol Channing, academy award nominee Carol Connors, actress Linda Gray, author Andrew Neiderman, actor/NFO legend Fred “The Hammer” Williamson, Suzanne Somers, Paris Hilton, Connie Stevens, Andy Williams, Ruta Lee, Mary Hart and Sidney Sheldon.
