After Cancer Scare, Heart Is Ready To Rock Riverside County

The band confirmed it will make a summer stop in the county. Tickets are now on sale.

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA — Last summer, the legendary rock band Heart, fronted by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, canceled its planned Riverside County concert because of a cancer diagnosis.

That grim period is now in the rear-view mirror, and the rockers are heading this way.

The band is set to take the stage at The Show at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa Rancho Mirage at 8 p.m. Friday, August 15, according to an announcement Tuesday. Tickets for the performance are on sale now at aguacalientecasinos.com.

Seventy-four-year-old Ann Wilson, who is Heart's lead singer, announced in July that she was undergoing cancer treatment and, as a result, the band postponed touring.

"I recently underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous," she said in a July 2, 2024, social media post. "The operation was successful, and I'm feeling great, but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I've decided to do it."

Heart was scheduled to perform at Riverside's Fox Performing Arts Center on Nov. 3, 2024, but the show was nixed.

In an update earlier this year, Ann Wilson told the world she was ready to rock and roll again.

"I'm really excited about it actually," Wilson told PEOPLE in an interview just days before heading out on Heart’s 24-date Royal Flush Tour 2025, which kicked off Friday, Feb. 28, in Las Vegas. "I feel really strong. I've been preparing and all that, and I'm healthy. I'm clear. I'm a little nervous because I haven't done it in a year, but I'm there."

The Rancho Mirage concert is part of the Royal Flush Tour. No other Riverside County venues are listed in the tour lineup.

Ann Wilson is known for her dramatic soprano vocal range and her operatic abilities, while sister Nancy leads on guitar and is the band's second vocalist. Formed in the 1970s, Heart helped redefine the rock genre with its powerful vocals, fierce guitar work, and dynamic songwriting. The band's U.S. Top 40 singles include "Magic Man" (1975), "Crazy on You" (1976), "Barracuda" (1977), "What About Love" (1985), "Never" (1985), and "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You" (1990), along with No. 1 hits "These Dreams" (1986) and "Alone" (1987).

In early 2024, Ann announced that she and Nancy would not perform a European circuit due to health complications, and then came news of the cancer diagnosis.

"Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025," Ann said at the time. "My team is getting those details sorted, and we'll let you know the plan as soon as we can."

Ann has long-suffered health issues. She admitted that in the band's earlier days, she would starve herself to stay thin and later suffered panic attacks about her weight. In the band's 2012 autobiography, Ann revealed her past struggles with cocaine and alcoholism.

In 2013, Ann and Nancy were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Show at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa Rancho Mirage features a 2,100-seat theater that boasts an impressive roster of legendary artists, comedians, and performers, including Jerry Seinfeld, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart, and many more.
