Annual Memorial Day Ceremony Planned At Coachella Cemetery

COACHELLA, CA — The Coachella Valley Public Cemetery District, in collaboration with American Legion Post 739 of Indio, will pay tribute to the fallen men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces during an annual Memorial Day observance Monday.

The 9 a.m. ceremony will be held at the CVPCD cemetery grounds at 82- 925 Avenue 52.

"Memorial Day is not only a time to reflect on the lives lost in service to or country, but also a moment to gather in unity and gratitude," Cemetery Board of Trustees President Ernesto Rosales said in a statement.

The day will also feature the national anthem and a selection of other patriotic songs performed by the Coachella Valley High School choir, an invocation delivered by Deacon Marty Sullivan of Our Lady of Soledad Church, and a flag-folding ceremony by members of Boy Scouts of America Troop 1701.

The American Legion Riders of Post 739 will pay tribute to fallen veterans, followed by a presentation of wreaths. The ceremony will also include a rifle volley by the Honor Guard of Post 739, and the playing of "Taps."
