Another Desert City Loses 911 Access: What To Know
Residents of this Coachella Valley city were unable to call 911 as of Wednesday morning.

CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — Cathedral City police reported Wednesday that its 911 emergency system was down and urged residents to either text 911 or call a backup number for emergency assistance.
The issue with dialing 911 began around 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to Sgt. Heather Olson
"We are working with our service provider to restore it, though the exact timeline is currently unknown," Olson said.

Residents with an emergency were encouraged to call 760-770-0303 or text 911 to reach a dispatcher.
The cause of the outage was not immediately known.

Similar phone issues have been reported this week across the Coachella Valley, including in Coachella, Indio and Palm Springs. Indio's outage was identified Mon onday.
Officials in Coachella and Palm Springs stated that the connection problems were linked to the Frontier service provider, although no detailed explanation was provided. Patch has reached out to Frontier for further clarification and will add that to this report when it is received.
