Body Found In Coachella Canal, No Foul Play Suspected

COACHELLA, CA — A Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigation was continuing after a body was found Tuesday morning in a Coachella canal.

The discovery was made at approximately 8 a.m. near 52nd Avenue, the sheriff's department told KESQ.

It's unclear who found the body, but authorities told the news outlet there were no signs of foul play.

The victim's identity is pending.

Local officials have long warned the public about the dangers of the miles-long canal. Steep and slippery cement walls, fast-moving water, unpredictable currents, and underwater tunnels called siphons are among the hazards.
