Body Found In Desert ID'd As Indio Man
The coroner was still investigating the circumstances of his death.
INDIO, CA — An Indio man found dead last week in a vehicle on a dirt road by Interstate 10 near Chiriaco Summit was publicly identified over the weekend by the coroner.
The body of Edward Gonzales, 60, was discovered shortly before 2 p.m. July 26 north of I-10 and east of Chiriaco Summit, according to the coroner and the California Highway Patrol.
The coroner was still investigating the time, date and circumstances of his death, though there was no indication from authorities that the fatality was a homicide.

Gonzales's vehicle was stuck on a dirt road that runs parallel to the freeway. Daytime desert temperatures exceeded 110 degrees last week.
