Knife-Wielding Man Arrested At Palm Springs Walmart: Cops
A 49-year-old man was arrested for allegedly threatening officers and bystanders at a Palm Springs Walmart.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — A 49-year-old man was arrested for allegedly threatening officers and bystanders at a Palm Springs Walmart, authorities said Thursday.
Officers from the Palm Springs Police Department responded to a call regarding a man wielding a knife outside a Walmart shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday, the department announced via social media on Wednesday.
Jason Sandoval reportedly threatened customers and employees by attempting to discharge pepper spray in the store.

Upon arrival, officers attempted to de-escalate the situation using non-lethal weapons as Sandoval allegedly activated a Taser aimed at the officers multiple times. Police employed their own Tasers, a pepperball launcher and a 40mm less-lethal launcher, as well as a K-9 unit, according to the department.
After being stunned, Sandoval was subdued and disarmed. No injuries were reported.

He was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio Tuesday night on suspicion of resisting arrest, exhibiting a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a weapon. His bail was set at $500,000. Sandoval's city of residence was not provided, and it was not immediately known if he has a criminal history.
