Coroner IDs Hit-And-Run Victim, Vehicle Sought Across Riverside County

A 50-year-old man died after being struck Saturday in Coachella. The driver is being sought in the ongoing investigation.

COACHELLA, CA — The Riverside County sheriff's coroner's office has identified a man killed in a hit-and-run crash in Coachella over the weekend in Coachella.

Jorge Guillen, 50, of Coachella, died as a result of the Saturday incident, his identity released following notification of next of kin.

At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, California Highway Patrol officers responded to the hit-and-run call on Grapefruit Boulevard south of 54th Avenue, where a black GMC Terrain fatally struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian, later identified as Guillen, was found on the right dirt shoulder of Grapefruit Boulevard, they said.

Paramedics took Guillen to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

There was no immediate information available about the driver, who fled the scene, police said.
