Coroner IDs Woman Killed In Interstate 10 Crash
The 41-year-old woman, who was behind the wheel of the Volkswagen, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
CHIRIACO SUMMIT, CA — A 44-year-old woman who was killed when a pickup truck collided with two other vehicles and a big rig on Interstate 10 west of Chiriaco Summit has been identified, as authorities Monday continued their investigation.
The Riverside County coroner's office identified the victim Friday as Jamie Pierce of Riverside.
The crash was reported at 11:55 a.m. Friday on westbound Interstate 10, near the Cottonwood Springs Road and Box Canyon Road off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A man driving a white Dodge Ram pickup was traveling at unconfirmed speeds and was unable to stop when he slammed into the rear of a Volkswagen sedan, CHP Officer David Torres said.
Torres said the pickup continued traveling westbound when it hit a Tesla and then a big rig.
Pierce, who was behind the wheel of the Volkswagen, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The man driving the pickup was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs to be treated for moderate to major injuries.
The identity of the suspect was not immediately available.
No other injuries were reported.
Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash, Torres said.
