Desert Hot Springs Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested
A police dog assisted with the suspect's arrest.
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — A 26-year-old Desert Hot Springs man was arrested today for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and children and threatening them with a knife.
Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department responded to a home in the 17000 block of Corkill Road at about 4:10 a.m.
Authorities said the woman and children were able to escape the home after a struggle.

When deputies arrived, the suspect, Orlando Ochoa Valladares, remained in the residence by himself and an hours-long standoff ensued, sheriff's officials said.
Valladares was ultimately arrested with the help of a police dog. He was booked into John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of domestic violence, false imprisonment and other crimes.

He remained behind bars in lieu of $50,000 bail.
