DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA —An increased police presence was in place at Desert Hot Springs at several schools in Desert Hot Springs as a precaution following social media threats of violence targeting DHS Middle School this week.

It was not immediately known what messages were behind the social media posts; however, police say they are investigating all threats. The police did share that there were "multiple entities investigating the threats."

The department stated Thursday that "We do not feel that any of these posts are credible threats to any of our Desert Hot Springs campuses."

Meanwhile, several parents shared on Facebook that they were not sending their children to school, even if it was a prank.

The Palm Springs Unified School District thanked the police for keeping the schools safe.

"These are our children, and teachers' lives," one parent wrote.

Anyone with information about the social media posts was asked to contact Detective Celia Romero at 760-329-6411, or at cromero@dhspd.com.
