'Desert Images: Newsmakers' Gallery Still Open This Weekend

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — An exhibit showcasing a collection of photographs from various Coachella Valley journalists, with proceeds funding the CV Journalism Foundation's visual journalism internship, will conclude Friday in Palm Springs.

The "Desert Images: Newsmakers" exhibit, presented in collaboration with the city of Palm Springs, opened July 16 at the Stephen Richard Baumbach Gallery in the Backstreet Art District, at 4116 Matthew Drive.

The exhibit had been set to run through Saturday, but will instead close Friday. The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. through noon.

The images were donated by photographer Michael Childers and includes photos from numerous local news organizations, including the Desert Sun, Coachella Valley Independent and El Informador Del Valle.

The exhibit includes images of sports stars, such as Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic, along with politicians including Donald Trump and Barack Obama.
