Driver Of Black Chevy Trailblazer Sought In Fatal I-10 Crash
Two people died in the Feb. 4 Thousand Palms pileup.

THOUSAND PALMS, CA — The California Highway Patrol announced it is seeking the driver of a black Chevrolet Trailblazer, who investigators believe is linked to a fatal Feb. 4 crash on Interstate 10 in Thousand Palms.
According to the CHP, the crash on westbound I-10 was reported shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, near mile marker 49.
CHP officer Rafael Espinosa told City News Service that two big rigs and a car were involved in the pileup, which initially shut down all lanes.

The crash killed two people identified by the coroner as 49-year-old Coachella resident Carolina Navarrete De Leal and 31-year-old Indio resident Fabian Zamora.
A driver who was behind the wheel of one of the trucks was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, Espinosa said. An update on that person's condition was not immediately available.

The CHP confirmed Monday that it is seeking the public’s help locating "a vehicle of interest" in the crash.
"The CHP Indio Area office is currently looking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident or have video recordings of the accident," the agency said. "Additionally, the CHP Indio Area office is currently looking for the driver of a black Chevrolet Trailblazer with black wheels and silver trim, who may have witnessed the accident."
