Driver Dies After Crashing Twice In Cathedral City: PD
It was not immediately known whether drugs or alcohol played a factor.
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — A 56-year-old Palm Springs resident who died after reportedly causing two collisions in quick succession was publicly identified Friday.
Cathedral City Police Department personnel were requested to the scene of a crash near the intersection of East Palm Canyon and Monty Hall drives at approximately 6 p.m. Thursday, according to a statement from Commander Jon Enos. Officers were allegedly told that the vehicle that caused the collision had fled eastward.
One person from that collision was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with moderate injuries, later determined to be non-life-threatening.

A few minutes later, more CCPD officers were sent to a separate collision on East Palm Canyon Drive close to Officer Jermaine Gibson Road, Enos said. Officers determined that the driver, the same one that had caused the first collision, had lost control and made contact with the hillside south of the roadway.
Paramedics transported the driver, identified as Paul Devine by a coroner's report Friday morning, to Desert Regional Medical Center as well, where he died shortly before 8 p.m.
