Earthquakes Rattle Southern California Desert

The quakes struck just before noon Friday.

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA—An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.3 struck Friday south of Coachella. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, it was quickly followed by a magnitude 2.6 temblor.

The first quake struck at 11:39 a.m., the second at 11:42 a.m.

According to the USGS, the temblors were centered about 32 miles southeast of Coachella.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
