Emma Stone Slated For Achievement Award At Palm Springs Film Festival

Will Emma Stone be in appearance for the award for her role in "Poor Things," at the January 2024 Palm Springs Film Festival?

PALM SPRINGS, CA — The Palm Springs International Film Festival Thursday announced that Emma Stone will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award for her role in "Poor Things" next year at its film awards.

The award will be presented Jan. 4, 2024 to Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese, Academy Award winner and executive producer Leonardo DiCaprio and Gotham Award nominee Lily Gladstone at the Palm Springs Convention Center, 277 N. Avenida Caballeros, according to festival officials.

"Emma Stone continues to exert influence as one of the most important actresses of this generation, whose performances are always exceptional no matter the role," festival Chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi said in a statement. "In her latest film `Poor Things,' Emma delivers a burning intensity and character bound for liberation."

Stone has previously been honored alongside co-star Ryan Gosling and director Damien Chazelle with the Vanguard Award for "La La Land."

The Desert Palm Achievement Award has previously been awarded to Cate Blanchett, Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Renee Zellweger, Olivia Colman, Marion Cotillard and Sandra Bullock among others.

"Poor Things," directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, features a tale of a young woman brought back to life by a scientist, and under his protection, she is eager to learn and runs off on an adventure across continents. Stone stars in the film which also features Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Suzy Bema, Kathryn Hunter and Hanna Schygulla, among others.

The film is set to release Dec. 8.
