Excessive Heat Warning Issued For Palm Desert, Across Coachella Valley

Residents are warned of exposure impacts, including dehydration and heat stroke.

PALM DESERT, CA — Over the next several days, Coachella Valley temperatures will near 120 degrees, prompting the National Weather Service to issue an Excessive Heat Warning for the area.

The warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Aug. 3 through 11 p.m. Aug. 5. The desert will be dangerously hot with daytime highs approaching 120 degrees and overnight lows dipping into the high 80s.

Western Riverside County won't be much cooler. The area is under an Excessive Heat Watch from 10 a.m. Aug. 3 until 11 p.m. Aug. 6.

During the four-day stretch, Lake Elsinore and Wildomar are forecast to see daytime highs nearing 108 degrees with overnight lows cooling only into the low to mid-70s. Conditions in Murrieta and Temecula will be slightly cooler, though only by a few degrees, according to the NWS forecast.

Monsoonal moisture will persist Friday, with the possibility of scattered thunderstorms in desert locations and in the mountains near Idyllwild, according to the NWS.
