'Family Disturbance' In Coachella Leads To 18-Year-Old Man's Arrest
The situation turned into a police standoff that eventually led to a surrender without incident, according to authorities.

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — An 18-year-old man who allegedly threatened family members in the Coachella Valley this week remained jailed Tuesday afternoon in lieu of $500,000 bail.
Damian Ortiz of Coachella was taken into custody just after 5 p.m. Monday following an alleged family disturbance at a home in the 50000 block of Paseo Cadiz in Coachella.
When deputies first responded to the address just after 3 p.m. that same day, they tried to speak to Ortiz, but he refused to exit the residence, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

A standoff ensued, and the sheriff’s Crisis Negation Team was called in, leading to Ortiz's ultimate surrender without incident, the sheriff's department reported.
A search warrant served at the residence turned up several firearms, ammunition and two airsoft pistols, according to the sheriff's department.

Ortiz is being held at Indio's John Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of felony terrorist threats.
