Fatal Crash Involving Semi Shuts Down SR-62 In Joshua Tree

JOSHUA TREE, CA — A fatal crash Thursday morning forced the closure of all state Route 62 lanes in Joshua Tree.

The wreck involving a semi-truck and vehicle was reported at approximately 9 a.m. at Rotary Way, according to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol.

As of 11 a.m., one eastbound lane was reopened.

It was not clear when the highway would be cleared. The CHP reported that an extended closure of eastbound lanes was required and one lane may open on the westbound side.

Both the semi and other vehicle required towing.

There was no word on the number of fatalities or injuries.
