I-10 Fatal Crash Claims Life Of LA Man In Thousand Palms

A red truck was seen leaving the roadway in the crash that claimed the life of one person, CHP reports.

THOUSAND PALMS, CA — A 48-year-old man from Los Angeles died Tuesday as a result of a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Thousand Palms.

The crash was reported shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday west of Cook Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

"A 2003 red Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on I-10 at an unconfirmed speed, when the vehicle made an unsafe turning movement to the right, drove off the roadway, overturned onto the dirt shoulder and landed on its roof," CHP Officer David Torres said.

No other occupants were inside the vehicle.

The driver, whose name was not revealed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor," Torres said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
