The First Tee of The Coachella Valley Receives Grant from The Walmart Foundation
The grant will allow local children to receive scholarships for new opportunities.
The First Tee' of the Coachella Valley is pleased to announce it has received a $2,000 grant through the Walmart Foundation Community Grants Program. The Walmart Community Grant Program awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. “Walmart and our associates here at N.H.MH3026 are very happy and proud to support The First Tee' of the Coachella Valley stated Richard Becerra, Store Manager of Walmart Neighborhood Market Palm Desert.
These funds will support the local chapter of The First Tee in its efforts to provide partial and full scholarships to families in the desert, making it possible for kids in our community to discover their best selves through character education and access to a game to which many never imagined-golf The mission of The First Tee is to provide the youth of the Coachella Valley with facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life enhancing values through the game of golf. “We strongly believe in the work The First Tee is doing by building solid character in local youth through the avenue of golf. The support shown by the Walmart Foundation is sincerely appreciated” commented Tim Skogen, Executive Director of The First Tee of the Coachella Valley.

Its mission is to impact the lives of children by providing learning facilities and educational programs to promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. The First Tee of the Coachella Valley has been offering golf programming to children since 2008.

The First Tee of the Coachella Valley is a program offered through The Desert Recreation District and supported by the Desert Recreation Foundation, a 501(c)3 tax exempt non-profit organization. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks to enhance, preserve, promote and expand the Coachella Valley's recreational activities, programs, parks and facilities through private and corporate support. The Foundation offers financial assistance to those who may otherwise be unable to participate.
