Fisherman Stabbed, Flees Attackers At Blythe Canal

The victim was confronted by four men in a red four-door SUV as he was fishing in a canal, according to Riverside County investigators.

BLYTHE, CA — Authorities were investigating the stabbing of a 24-year-old man who was fishing in a canal in Blythe.

On Tuesday, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Colorado River station responded to an unincorporated area of Blythe near Chanslor Way and Ehlers Boulevard around 5:40 p.m. Monday on a report of a stabbing, according to Sgt. Ed Reynoso.

The victim was confronted by four men in a red four-door SUV as he was fishing in a canal, the sergeant said.

During the confrontation, one of the men stabbed him with a knife. The victim fled the area with serious injuries, Reynoso said. He was subsequently taken to a hospital.

Investigators detained and interviewed several persons of interest after the suspect vehicle was found in the 1300 block of San Gorgonio Way, according to Reynoso.

The investigation was ongoing and anyone with information about the attack was asked to call Investigator Barron with the Colorado River station at 760-921-7900.
