Funding For Coachella Valley Priorities Takes Effect
A fire station upgrade, a "recovery village," animal services, housing and public health are some of the initiatives.
COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — Funding toward local priorities within the Coachella Valley and Blythe area are expected to go into effect Friday under the unanimously approved 2022-23 Riverside County budget.
"The budget hearings highlighted new initiatives by our county to transform services and work towards better outcomes on many different fronts and support individuals and families in improving their lives," said Supervisor V. Manuel Perez.
The initiatives include upgrades to North Bermuda Dunes Fire Station 81 near Palm Desert, a "Recovery Village" in Coachella, funding for the Combustible Materials Task Force to prevent fires caused by illegal dumping in the desert, potential county-city partnership for animal services in Blythe and more.

The budget also funds year-round services and programs in the area that provide transportation improvements, vital records, housing, public health, veterans' services, animal services and much more.
"I am proud that we are providing funding for the great work of departments and solutions to concerns such as fires in the eastern Coachella Valley that we are getting better at preventing," said Supervisor Perez.
