Gas Leak Leads Cielito Road Neighborhood To Shelter In Place
A total of 15 homes in an Indian Wells neighborhood were told to shelter in place as SoCal Gas worked to shut down a gas leak Wednesday.
INDIAN WELLS, CA — A gas leak prompted a street closure in an Indian Wells neighborhood Wednesday, and some residents were told to shelter in place while the issue was addressed.
The leak was reported in the 45600 block of Cielito Drive at 10:55 a.m., according to the Cal Fire/ Riverside County Fire Department. The gas leak was mitigated by 1:15 p.m., according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
Southern California Gas Co. crews were called to the scene to mitigate the leak, the cause of which was not immediately known.

Officials issued a shelter-in-place order for 15 homes in the vicinity, according to the fire department that was canceled at 1:15 p.m.
Cielito from Calle Tranquilidad to Alta Colina Way, will remain closed closed for an undetermined length of time due to repairing the leak.
