Hiker Rescued By Helicopter Crew Near Palm Desert

Firefighters were able to reach the hiker by foot but requested a sheriff's helicopter crew to hoist the hiker off the trail.

PALM DESERT, CA — A helicopter rescue crew was responding to a hiker who needed help on a trail near Palm Desert Saturday.

According to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, the hiker requested assistance at about 3 p.m. from the Cross Loop Trail in the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument.

Firefighters were able to reach the hiker by foot but requested a Riverside County sheriff's helicopter crew to hoist the hiker off the trail.
