Indio Bar Shooting Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder: Cops
A La Quinta man was charged with attempted murder after the incident at Niel's Lounge one week ago.

INDIO, CA —A 44-year-old man who allegedly shot someone during an altercation at a bar in Indio was charged Tuesday with attempted murder.
Jose Gabino Ulloa of La Quinta also faces a sentence-enhancing allegation of discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury, according to court records.
He was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.

Officers responded around 11:43 p.m. Wednesday to Neil's Lounge in the 80-900 block of Highway 111 in Indio to a report of a disturbance, according to public information officer Ben Guitron of the Indio Police Department.
"While police officers were in route to the call, additional information received advised an individual was suffering from a gunshot wound," Guitron said in a statement. "Indio Fire/Cal Fire paramedics responded and transported the gunshot victim to a local hospital, where the victim remains in critical condition."

It was not immediately known what led up to or motivated the shooting. A description of the victim was not provided.
Guitron said patrons and staff from the business had Ulloa detained along with a firearm by the time officers arrived on the scene.
Ulloa was subsequently arrested and booked into the John J. Benoit Detention Center, where he remains held on $1 million bail, according to court records.
