La Quinta Remembers & Pays Tribute to Arnold Palmer

"Mr. Palmer's influence can be felt throughout La Quinta, and we're very fortunate he was so deeply involved in our community,"

As the world mourns the loss of golf’s greatest legend, the City of La Quinta remembers Arnold Palmer in the wake of his passing on Sunday, September 25, 2016, as one of its most renowned residents.

La Quinta was a place Palmer called home, where he resided part of the year at Tradition Golf Club and a restaurant bearing his name was opened in 2004 -- featuring some of his favorite dishes along with memorabilia from his decades-long professional golf career.

Palmer also designed the championship golf course at SilverRock Resort, and was a top ambassador for the CareerBuilder Challenge (formerly the Bob Hope Classic) – of which La Quinta is the Host City. Palmer was the PGA TOUR event’s only five-time champion.

“Mr. Palmer’s influence can be felt throughout La Quinta, and we’re very fortunate he was so deeply involved in our community,” said Linda Evans, Mayor of La Quinta. “We are saddened to have lost such an extraordinary resident, and will remember him fondly as we feel his presence in the places he has touched in La Quinta.”
