COACHELLA, CA — A 43-year-old man who was fatally struck by a train in Coachella was identified as a resident of that city, and authorities continued their investigation into the collision Friday.
Deputies responded to a report of a man struck by a train shortly after 6:15 a.m. Monday in the area of Grapefruit Avenue and Avenue 49, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Riverside County coroner's office identified the victim as Andrew Martinez.
