Middle East Delegates Discuss Water Sources, Sustainability In Palm Springs
The Desert Water Agency hosted delegates on delivery management, best practices and sustainability.

PALM DESERT, CA — The Desert Water Agency hosted delegates from several Middle East nations in Palm Springs this week to discuss water sources and sustainability efforts, officials said Tuesday.
Monday's meeting at 1200 S. Gene Autry Trail included 12 delegates from the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program. The delegates cam from Egypt, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
Discussions focused on water delivery management best practices and sustainability priorities, including the importance of imported water and groundwater recharge, water sources, infrastructure and water quality.

"Desert Water Agency takes pride in maintaining its vast distribution system, delivering safe and reliable water to our customers and ensuring a secure long-term supply for the region," DWA Regional Manager Esther Saenz said in a statement. "We appreciated the opportunity to share with our esteemed guests the agency's rich history in water management as a State Water Project contractor, and to showcase water delivery in the desert as it travels from the ground to the tap."
Participants in the program comprised researchers, mechanical and technical engineers, experts and chief executives of companies focused on "clean and renewable energy safe water solutions and solar power," officials said.

The meeting was arraigned by the International Citizen Diplomacy of Los Angeles.
The DWA is a not-for-profit agency in the western Coachella Valley, and provides tap water service to Palm Springs and a portion of Cathedral City.
