ANZA, CA — An earthquake shook parts of Riverside County on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.
The quake — which had a preliminary magnitude of 4.1, but was quickly downgraded to a 3.9 — hit at 7:19 p.m. PST. The U.S.G.S. says it was centered at:
- 14.4 miles WNW of Anza
- 15.3 miles NNE of La Quinta
- 15.5 miles SSE of Borrego Springs
- 24.8 miles NNW of Palm Springs
- 43.9 miles WSW of Escondido
People reported feeling the quake throughout the Coachella Valley and the Pass Area via the U.S.G.S. 'did you feel it?' app.

The 3.9 magnitude earthquake was quickly followed by a 2.6-magnitude quake in the La Quinta area and a 2.9-magnitude quake in the Anza area, according to earthquake reports.
No damage was immediately reported.
