Motorist, 24, Killed In Blythe Crash Identified

The rollover wreck was reported Wednesday morning. Two children also in the vehicle were unharmed, officials said.

BLYTHE, CA — A motorist who died after being ejected from a vehicle in a rollover crash near Blythe was identified Thursday as a 24-year-old Phoenix man.

The solo-vehicle crash that ultimately killed Jerry Stanton was reported about 5:20 a.m. Wednesday in the westbound direction east of Wiley's Well Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Stanton was one of two motorists hospitalized with injuries. Two children were also in the vehicle but unharmed.

Stanton died at Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, coroner officials said.

The updated condition of the other motorist, who suffered injuries initially described as moderate, was not known Thursday. That person's name was not released.
