Palm Desert Man Struck, Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver; Witnesses Sought

The fatality occurred Wednesday night at the intersection of Country Club and Barrington drives, according to the coroner.

PALM DESERT, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday in Palm Desert and investigators are hoping the public can help provide information about the incident.

The 48-year-old Palm Desert man was hit at approximately 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Country Club and Barrington drives, according to the coroner's bureau.

When deputies arrived at the scene they found the man dead, laying in eastbound Country Club Drive lanes. His identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.

There is no suspect in custody and it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the fatality, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported Thursday morning. The agency did not release any information about the vehicle that hit the man.
