Palm Grove Catches Fire In Fast-Moving Desert Blaze
A fire broke out in a Thermal-area palm grove, officials say.

PALM DESERT, CA —Firefighters were battling a vegetation fire that broke out in Thermal Sunday, the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department announced.
The fire was reported at 1:53 p.m. in the 58400 block of Jackson Street.
According to the fire department, an approximately one-quarter acre in a palm grove was involved with flames.
The cause of the fire was not stated.

The Imperial Irrigation District tweeted that the utility was experiencing a power outage in La Quinta and Thermal due to the fire.
"We are aware of the issue and are working quickly as possible to restore power," the IID added.

By 4:30 p.m. just over 120 customers were still without power.
