Palm Springs Police Seek The Public's Help To Find Stolen Dogs, Identify Suspects

Help bring Maggie and Winnie home after they were reportedly stolen near a home in Palm Springs.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Palm Springs police on Thursday asked for the public’s help identifying two people suspected of stealing two dogs near a residence, according to a Facebook post from the department.

The theft was reported around 10:30 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of San Lorenzo Road, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Surveillance footage shows a Hispanic man in his 30s or 40s wearing a white T-shirt that read “I need coffee,” black shorts, a black cap and white shoes, and carrying a purple backpack. He was described as having tattoos on his right leg, possibly an eagle, and a full sleeve on his right arm.

The second suspect was described as a white woman in her 30s with brown hair, wearing a leopard-print dress and brown boots, and carrying a black purse.

The pair is accused of picking up the dogs, Maggie and Winnie, who had wandered from the home after a door was left open, and quickly left the area, police said. The dogs are microchipped and valued at about $2,500 each; police did not provide their breed.

In a social media post, police cited Penal Code 485, noting that appropriating lost property, “including pets, without trying to find the rightful owner can be considered theft.”
