Palm Springs Man Pleads 'Not Guilty' To Residential Burglary Charge

A resident of Palm Springs arrested Wednesday is accused of entering a Vereda Norte home in July.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — A 41-year-old man suspected in a July residential burglary in Palm Springs pleaded not guilty to a felony charge Friday.

Nicholas Cristian Carrera of Palm Springs was charged with burglary and pleaded not guilty to the charge Friday afternoon at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Vereda Norte on July 25 to a report of a residential burglary, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Police said Carrera was captured on video allegedly stealing from the home and detectives assigned to the case noticed that he resembled a suspect from other residential surveillance videos "prowling and casing houses."

Officers found Carrera at Sunrise Park on Wednesday and arrested him, according to police.

Detectives were investigating if he was involved in other Palm Springs burglaries in August.

Carrera was being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on $35,000 bail. He is due back in court in Indio on Aug. 30.
