Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Train In Coachella Valley

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — A pedestrian struck by a train Tuesday evening in Indio died at the scene, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
The fatality was reported at 5:30 p.m. near Indio Boulevard and Fir Avenue, next to Interstate 10.
Law enforcement is overseeing the investigation and no further details were available.

The coroner reported that the deceased was a 43-year-old Coachella man, but his name was not released pending notification of next of kin.
According to the coroner, he died on the tracks at Grapefruit Boulevard, south of Avenue 48, in Coachella.
