Police Serve Warrants At Indio Motel, 2 Charged With Robbery, Assault

Two people at an Indio Motel were placed under arrest, both are being held on multiple charges, police say.

INDIO, CA — Police activity circled an Indio motel when officers served a 36-year-old man with a search warrant and arrested him and one other, officials say.

Juan Francisco Gutierrez-Angulo was arrested and booked into Benoit Detention Center in Indio early Wednesday on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and resisting, obstructing, or delaying a peace officer, according to the Indio Police Department.

Gutierrez-Angulo's bail was set at $30,000.

A woman, identified only as a 36-year-old, was arrested along with Gutierrez-Angulo and will face the same charges, police said. Her name has yet to be released.

Detectives and police officers served a search warrant shortly before 6:50 a.m. Wednesday at Ruta Motel, at 82083 Indio Blvd.
