Rain Expected In Palm Desert This Weekend

Rain was expected to arrive in Riverside County from a storm system moving out of the Pacific Northwest.

PALM DESERT, CA — Potential rain and a cold snap were forecast for the Palm Desert area this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A storm system rolling out of the Pacific Northwest is expected to bring the fall season's first appreciable precipitation to the Inland Empire.

"Cloud coverage is expected to increase into Saturday ahead of a trough of low pressure which will dig south into Western United States this weekend," NWS forecasters wrote. "The incoming low pressure is expected to generate areas of showers for areas in and west of the mountains."

Temperatures will dip only slightly from Friday with a high of around 77 degrees expected on Saturday and Sunday. on Saturday night, there's a 20% chance of showers, with partly cloudy skies and a low of around 52 degrees. Westerly winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph are also expected.

Sunday will bring winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Sunday evening will be clear with northeast winds of 5 to 10 mph and 30 mph gusts.

The nighttime lows across the area will hang around the high-50s.
