Suspect Arrested In Coachella Valley Fatal Shooting

INDIO, CA — Indio police have one person in custody and are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Indio on Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 2:15 p.m., officers were called to the 83000 block of Quail Avenue regarding a shooting, according to the Indio Police Department. Upon arrival, they found a man who sustained gunshot wounds and was administered lifesaving measures by paramedics.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

"One person of interest has been detained," police said.

The victim's identity was withheld pending confirmation of the Riverside County Coroner's office and notification of next of kin.

The agency stated that there was no additional threat to the community.

The circumstances behind the alleged shooting were not immediately available.
