Suspect Attempting To Sell Fentanyl In Palm Desert Arrested: Police

The suspect was being held without bail pending his Wednesday court date, according to jail records.

PALM DESERT, CA — A 42-year-old man suspected of possession of fentanyl in Palm Desert arrested over the weekend was still behind bars Monday.

Manuel Gabriel Rivera was arrested Saturday and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of possessing less than an ounce of narcotics for sale, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. He was being held without bail, awaiting a Wednesday court date to answer pending charges, according to jail records.

"Deputies conducted a vehicle check at 8:42 p.m. Saturday in the area of Harris Lane and Washington Street," Sheriff's Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez. "Arresting deputies determined Rivera was in possession of fentanyl for sale."
