PALM SPRINGS, CA — Police have arrested a 17-year-old suspect accused of stabbing another juvenile in Palm Springs.

The Palm Springs Police Department was notified of a reported stabbing shortly after 6:15 p.m. last Thursday in the 100 block of West Tahquitz Canyon Drive, according to a department statement published Monday evening.

Arriving officers found the juvenile with "non-life-threatening stab wounds." Witnesses claimed that a "physical altercation" had started between several male juveniles, police said.

The witnesses testified that as the brawl moved from the street level into a nearby underground parking structure, one person sustained stab wounds with an "unidentified edged weapon" and another pulled out a handgun before fleeing, according to the department.

A second juvenile with a stab wound was later identified at a local hospital, and police allegedly linked him to the fight. He was expected to recover.
