Tina Turner Tribute Concert Rescheduled In Palm Springs

The performance was set to kick off the third season of tribute concerts in Palm Springs.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce rescheduled Wednesday's Tina Turner tribute concert due to the weather.

"This precautionary measure is taken to ensure the safety and well- being of everyone involved, with hopes that the new date will be an enjoyable experience for all attendees," chamber officials wrote in a statement.

The Debby Holiday band will now perform a Tina Turner tribute at 7 p.m. next Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Palm Springs Downtown Park, located at the intersection of Museum Drive and Belardo Road.

After that, the chamber's third season of its free concert series will continue on the first Wednesday of each month.

The season began Dec. 6 with Kenny Cetera's Chicago Experience and will continue until May 1. February's performance is a joint tribute to Johnny Cash, Jerry Lewis and Elvis Presley touted as "Cash, The Killer, and the King."

Subsequent months will offer tributes to Abba, Garth Brooks and Bon Jovi.

"Our goal is to bring visitors and residents from throughout the Coachella Valley to downtown Palm Springs during the middle of the week so as to provide a boost to our local bars, restaurants and retail businesses," Chamber CEO Nona Watson said in a statement introducing the series.

Chamber officials encourage concert attendees to take beach chairs and blankets.
