Watch Your Speed On Cathedral City Streets
New speed limits will take effect July 25.
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — Cathedral City officials will reduce speed limits on more than 10 streets next week in an effort to improve safety on the roads.
The new speed limits will take effect July 25 in the following areas:
-- Date Palm Drive, from Vista Chino to 30th Avenue; will change from 55 mph to 50 mph;
-- McCallum Way, from Date Palm Drive to Santoro Drive, will change from 30 mph to 25 mph;
-- McCallum Way, from Santoro Drive to Da Vall Drive, will change from 30 mph to 25 mph;
-- Mountain View Road, from Varner Road to the north city limits, will change from 55 mph to 50 mph;
-- Palm Drive, from Interstate 10 to Varner Road, will change from 60 mph to 55 mph;
-- Ramon Road, from Date Palm Drive to Neuma Drive, will change from 50 mph to 45 mph;
-- Ramon Road, from Neuma Drive to Da Vall Drive, will change from 50 mph to 45 mph;
-- Santoro Drive, from 30th Avenue to McCallum Way, will increase from 25 mph to 35 mph;
--Varner Road, from the west city limits to Edom Hill Road, will change from 55 mph to 50 mph;
--Vista Chino, from the west city limits to Landau Boulevard, will change from 55 mph to 50 mph; and
-- Vista Chino from Avenida Maravilla to Date Palm Drive, will change from 55 mph to 50 mph.
The changes originate from an engineering and traffic survey the city conducts every few years to evaluate infrastructure changes and evolving traffic conditions.
