Wheelchair Bound Man Struck Twice Crossing RivCo Street, Toyota Sienna Driver Sought
The man was taken to a nearby hospital and officials are seeking the first driver who struck him and fled the scene.

CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — A 68-year-old man in a wheelchair was struck by two vehicles Tuesday while crossing a Cathedral City street.
The man, whose name was not released, was hit shortly before 3:30 a.m. Tuesday on Date Palm Drive, south of Gerald Ford, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.
Police said the man was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk when a white minivan traveling southbound struck him. The motorist fled the scene.

A witness told authorities the minvan was last seen heading southbound over the Date Palm Drive Bridge.
The man, while lying in the roadway, was hit by a second vehicle seconds later, police said.

Authorities questioned the driver of the second vehicle, who remained at the scene.
The pedestrian was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs in critical condition.
A preliminary investigation Friday afternoon revealed the suspect vehicle as a 2011-2020 Toyota Sienna, who was last seen on security footage.
Authorities urged residents to be on the lookout for a minivan likely damaged in the front.
