A young man was struck by a truck and fatally injured Thursday outside a resort in Cathedral City, according to the coroner.
The deceased was identified as Arthur Plata, 18, of Cathedral City. He was a pedestrian in the roadway when he was struck, coroner's personnel said in a statement.
Plata was struck at 1:58 p.m. Aug. 29 in the roadway in front of Welk Resort Desert Oasis at 34567 Cathedral Canyon Drive, coroner's personnel said.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene at 2:09 p.m. Cathedral City police were investigating.
