1 Killed, 3 Injured In East Palo Alto Shooting: Police

Police believed the attack was targeted and not random, based on an initial investigation.

EAST PALO ALTO, CA — One person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting in an apparent "targeted attack" in East Palo Alto on Tuesday night, according to police.

The shooting took place at Jack Farrell Park after 6 p.m. Police responded to notifications from the gunfire alert system Shotspotter and found the victim on the 2500 block of Fordham Street, according to a news release.

The victim died while being transported to the hospital.

Two other people took themselves to the Menlo Park Fire Protection District Firehouse and another person was identified at a home on Fordham Street but did not seek medical treatment.

Police said they would not release names of the victims until they notify the next of kin of the deceased.

The Menlo Park Police Department and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office are assisting in the investigation.
